Program Description:

These competitive programs falls under the Soccer for Life stage of the Long Term Player Development program outlined by Canada Soccer.  They will play in a league format and team sizes will not exceed 22 players. Boys and Girls program will be separate. Players will generally receive a minimum two team practices a week, plus 14-16 games during the season.

These programs participate in the Nova Scotia Soccer League and travel across Nova Scotia will be an expectation.

Team Selections:

Halifax City will be removing tryouts from its operations as we transition to a program that gives players ongoing feedback throughout the season, with a final recommendation of which team the player shouldp play on next season. In addition it also removes the following:

  • Anixety from players, coaches, parents & staff
  • Removes unnecessary tryout fees

Parents to Provide:

  • Contributions to individual team budget for extra tournaments/festivals and team socials

Coaching: Your assigned coach will be communicated to you prior to the start of the season.


Coaching Qualifications:

All HCSC coaches are mandated to complete all requirements by our governing bodies (Soccer Nova Scotia and Canadian Soccer Association) including their soccer specific training, making ethical decisions, respect in soccer and a valid police check.

Financial Support:

Halifax City Soccer Club is committed to ensuring families can apply for KidSport & JumpStart to assist with accessbility to our programs.

There are several national funding organizations that work with soccer clubs to provide registration fee and equipment funding to those who qualify. Jumpstart will provide up to $500 per year ($250 per soccer season) to players who qualify, while KidSport provides up to $300 per year. If you need financial assistance, please apply to both Jumpstart and KidSport to see if you qualify. 

IMPORTANT: If you intend to apply for JumpStart or KidSport, when registering for your desired program, you must select "Apply for Financial Aid" when completing your registration at the checkout. 

The registrant will not be charged any money at check out for financial aid registrations and their registration will go into a "pending financial aid" status. Only when we receive proof of application for KidSport &/OR JumpStart or receive the cheque will the registrant be approved to an active successful registration.
